Fuvahmulah Experience Expedition.

Tiger Sharks in Maldives

What you need to know…

  • 🦈 Tiger shark encounters: Dive and come into direct contact with one of the ocean's most magnificent apex predators, the tiger shark. Witness their grace and power up close while maintaining the utmost safety with experienced shark safety divers and guides. According to local experts, April is the best time of year to encounter tiger sharks in Fuvahmulah and we can expect to see up to 40 different tiger sharks in a single dive!

🦈 Other shark encounters: You will have the opportunity to dive with other sharks and megafauna such as thresher sharks, hammerhead sharks, many different types of reef sharks, oceanic mantas and (if we are lucky)... whale sharks!

🦈 Deep blue excursion:  You'll have the chance to encounter not only the Oceanic White Tip sharks but also other fascinating species such as Shortfin Mako Sharks and Silky Sharks. On one of the days we will be embarking on a speedboat on route to the deep blue to freedive with oceanic whitetip sharks and other deep water pelagic species!

🪸 Stunning underwater scenery: Fuvahmulah is a paradise for divers, with vibrant coral reefs, diverse marine life, and an underwater world waiting to be explored. You'll be mesmerised by the beauty that surrounds you.

📸 Underwater photography / editing workshops by Kendall Rose Photo - learn how to transform your underwater images to professional quality!

🌅 Sunset beach BBQ with a traditional Maldivian buffet dinner that will be prepared to us by locals.

🏝️ Island exploration: Immerse yourself in the unique culture and natural beauty of Fuvahmulah. Explore pristine beaches, lush jungles, breath-taking sunsets and vibrant coral reefs.

🇲🇻 Local culture: Immerse yourself in the warm and welcoming culture of the Maldivian people. You will have the opportunity to connect with locals and learn about the island's traditions and history.

🏨 4.5 star accommodation: Enjoy comfortable and luxurious accommodation with rooftop views over the Indian Ocean, where you can relax and rejuvenate after your thrilling underwater adventures.

♻️ Eco tourism: We are committed to preserving the fragile marine ecosystems of Fuvahmulah. Your participation supports responsible and sustainable tourism practices.

💰 Affordable pricing: You will notice our pricing is much lower than most other Fuvahmulah expeditions running. At $3795AUD per person, we want to create an equal opportunity for everyone to be able to come along and experience and learn about the magic of tiger sharks. Fascination > Fear.

  • Fuvahmulah has a unique tiger shark diving system due to sharing the dive site where tiger sharks aggragate with the rest of the dive centres on the island. This ensures each group of divers experience the tiger shark dive privately. Each of the dive centres are allocated a tiger diving timeslot for the next day, the night before. This means that we cannot guarantee a concrete itinerary as of now. However, each day will include at least one tiger shark freediving session and/or one reef freediving session. One some days, we will have the opportunity to see the tiger sharks twice, once in tiger harbour and once in the deep blue (an incredible experience!)

Each day will begin at breakfast (included), we will go as a group for lunches and dinners to wherever we desire (lunch and dinners not included).

One of the days will be dedicated to searching for different pelagic species out in the open ocean (deep blue). During this experience, we have the opportunity to encounter oceanic whitetip sharks, tiger sharks melon-headed whales, pilot whales, tiger sharks, whale sharks, manta rays and more!

One our last night (given good weather conditions), we will indulge in a beach BBQ night with locally-made traditional Maldivian dishes, beach buffet style!

More information will be included in your Fuvahmulah Experience Expedition Information Pack, which will be emailed to you closer to the date.
